1. Mentoring and helping coach kids from three FLL teams at Hommocks Middle School (February 2025 - Ongoing)
One of our team members has consistently been mentoring an FLL team in programming at a public middle school in our community during their off-season for 30 minutes every week before the summer.
This FLL season, he is helping coach the three FLL teams at that same school, Hommocks Middle School, for two hours a week every week.
2. FIRST/Robotics Awareness at the Tri-State Engineering Expo (March 30, 2025)
At the Tri-State Engineering Expo in White Plains, we taught children how to do origami, ranging from simple, to more complex shapes, focusing on the "Art" aspect of STEAM (especially since there . Since many kids and their parents came to our booth, we introduced them to FIRST, and about the different possibilities within the organization (FLL, FTC). We also took this opportunity to compete in scrimmages against other FTC teams from our region.
3. FIRST/Robotics Awareness at the StemTastic Festival 2025 (May 9, 2025)
4. Robotics Camp at the Carver Center (August 5-8, 2025)
5. Teaching robotics fundamentals to orphaned children in Lebanon (August 2025)
One of our team members went to Lebanon to teach orphaned children the basics of robotics, with LEGO bricks
The Fun Run is a tradition at our school, in which at the beginning of every year we students and parents come together to run a few laps around a track. We took this opportunity to fund-raise for our team and introduce families to our school's robotics program.
In total, we were able to raise over $250 by selling team merch and thanks to the generous donations of parents.
We did robot demonstrations with both our team's FTC robot, as well as a smaller LEGO robot to cater to the younger kids, and we brought a poster to show the robotics progressionrt at our school (from elementary to high school) to over 130 interested children and their parents.
